Our honey adventure
We have always thought that having bees on our property would make a great addition to our farm. Knowing about their plight and many issues the bees encounter every day, Pat & I thought it would be a great idea to somehow bring more bees into our area. We sought out a local bee keeper and offered a place on our property for him to set up some hives. In the mean time, we added chickens to our family. You know what chickens are -yes, a gateway “drug” into bee keeping!
In 2016 we took the plunge with the help of that local beekeeper, who provided us with equipment and a beginning knowledge. We were off and running!
Overcoming my innate fear of bees was tough, but with help from Pat, who at times seems fearless, I somehow managed to overcome that problem.
Before we knew it, 3 hives in our first year lead to 5 for the 2018 season and hopefully our colonies will grow to 8 before the 2019 harvest!
What we find so amazing about these tiny creatures is their ability to provide us humans with “life”. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t learn something new about them and what truly amazing creatures they are.
From the benefits to the farmer who farms our land to the raw local honey the bees provide for us, Sweet Surrender Honey is now able to offer raw, non-filtered, non-pastuerized honey to our community.
We are a hands-on operation every step of the way to ensure only the highest quality products are offered to our customers. We hope you enjoy Sweet Surrender Honey as much as we do!
